Chappell Roan abandons a doomed situationship with “Good Luck, Babe!”

Chappell Roan experienced an incredible ascent on the back of her 2023 debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, which recently included opening more than a dozen dates of Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS tour.

“Good Luck, Babe!,” her latest single that’s out today, dials back some of the pop extravagance that dominated her debut. Throughout the song, she details leaving a taxing situationship and deserving better overtop ’80s synth-pop, confident as ever. “I needed to write a song about a common situationship within queer relationships — where someone is struggling with coming to terms with themselves,” Roan says. “It’s a song about wishing well to someone who is avoidant of their true feelings.”

This May, Roan will head out on her Midwest Princess tour, which launches May 19 in St. Petersburg, Florida and wraps at Hinterland Festival in St. Charles, Iowa. She’ll also play both weekends of Coachella.
