Charli XCX postpones U.S. tour to open for Paramore in the UK

Charli XCX has announced that her planned U.S. tour, which was scheduled to run from Aug. 30 to Oct. 2, has been postponed in favor of opening for the UK leg of Paramore's upcoming arena tour of Europe.

The British singer, who is best known for “I Love It,” a track she penned and performed with Icona Pop, posted a candid message to fans on her Facebook, expressing sadness over being forced to cancel, while explaining the magnitude of the opportunity. Rescheduled dates, which will take place in Oct. and Nov., are expected to be announced soon.

Check out Charli XCX's message about the tour:

“Hi guys. As some of you may have already heard I have annoyingly had to postpone my headline tour in the USA in October/November. It's really frustrating and it's really sad and I genuinely am so so so upset about it because I had some amazing ideas and things to share with you in the shows throughout September.

I'm going to be completely honest with you, the reason the tour has been postponed is because I have been offered to support Paramore throughout their UK tour, which is a really big deal for me as I haven't ever really toured in the UK outside of London before. It's scary and it's quite weird but it's also super exciting for me to finally be able to play shows in the country that I'm from.

I always feel so welcome in the USA and all of you guys have always been so cool and amazing to play too… So I am really so sad that I'm letting you down like this. But this is a big opportunity for me, one that people around me won't let me decline. I am seriously so sorry to everyone I have let down, and I really do hope that you will be able to make the rescheduled dates (I'm figuring them out right now) and that you will enjoy the new music that is coming very very very soon. All I can promise you is that when I come back to the USA later on this year, the tour will be bigger and better… There's going to be a lot of changes made and lots of new, exciting things.

Please don't be too angry at me. I really do hate to let everyone down like this. I promise I'm going to make it up to you all. Xxxxxx”
