Chris Cornell estate in financial dispute over daughter's college tuition

It’s been just over two years since Chris Cornell, Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman, died at age 52. However, a recent dispute between Cornell’s estate and his eldest daughter Lilly has recently surfaced. According to TMZ, Cornell’s estate is locked in a financial dispute over his daughter’s college tuition.

When Cornell divorced his first wife Susan Silver in 2004, they both agreed he would pay for Lilly’s college expenses. The money was placed in a trust fund for tuition and other expenses, with the funds being granted as needed.

Now, TMZ reports Lilly filed a claim with Cornell’s estate for the money, but the estate rep denied it.

Sources tell TMZ Lilly enrolled in college last year, and the estate paid her $21,000 tuition each semester. However, the sources also state Lilly dropped out after the first week of the second semester.

Lilly’s rep allegedly sent an email to the trust back in March, making sure the tuition payment was made.

Cornell’s second wife Vickey, who administers the trust fund, made a call to the school and found out Lilly had dropped out.

While the trustee is not demanding that any money be returned, they are asking for proof that Lilly is currently enrolled in classes before issuing any more payments.

Vickey’s lawyer, Marty Singer, tells TMZ, “We are shocked that Lilly filed a claim in probate court since for over two years Vicky, with no legal obligation to do so, paid all of Chris’ remaining child support despite it being questionable Vicky even owed same, as well as 80 percent of the required educational expenses for Lilly, including a request by Lilly to pay college tuition this semester when she failed to disclose she had dropped out.”
