Chris Cornell tribute concert boasts impressive lineup

Metallica and Foo Fighters are expected to headline Chris Cornell’s tribute concert. Ryan Adams, as well as members from Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog are also performing. The concert will take place in Los Angeles next year.

Cornell was a member of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog. In addition to the sentimentally-stacked lineup, Jimmy Kimmel will host the event.

“We are honored to have all these amazing artists and friends come together to pay tribute to and show their love and appreciation for Chris, his music and the mark he’s left on the world,” Vicky Cornell says in a statement. 

“I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell” will take place on Jan. 16 at the Forum in Los Angeles. You can start purchasing tickets for the event this Friday, Nov. 16 here.

In addition to commemorating Cornell’s life, the tribute concert will benefit the Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation and the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, according to Consequence of Sound.  

The Chris and Vicky Cornell Foundation works to help vulnerable children in need by supporting “charitable organizations serving children who are facing homelessness, poverty, abuse, and neglect worldwide,” according to their website.

EBMRF is a volunteer-based non-profit. Over 99 percent of donations go directly to research for Epidermis Bullosa, a genetic disease that causes painful blisters on the skin.

Earlier today, Cornell’s son starred in a music video for the musician’s posthumous single “When Bad Does Good.” The song is will come out Friday, Nov. 16 alongside a 64-song collection of unreleased material.

Cornell died May 17, 2017 at age 52. His death was later confirmed as a suicide by hanging.
