Citizen release catchy anthem "When I Let You Down" with new video

Alternative Press teamed up with Citizen for an exclusive blue and red swirl vinyl variant of Calling The Dogs, limited to 400 copies. Head to the AP Shop to snag yours.

Citizen have shared the third single from their upcoming album, Calling The Dogs, which arrives Oct. 6 via Run For Cover. “When I Let You Down” is a big, driving, catchy Citizen anthem that vocalist Mat Kerekes describes like this: “When you talk to an old friend and they can only say, ‘remember when,’ it makes me really sad. It’s a very subtle way of showing the friendship has died. Some people are a bit lost in life, and this song is to encourage them to move on from the past and make new memories.

Calling the Dogs is an introspective album that examines personal growth and the external influences that shape us,” he tells AP. “Produced by Rob Schnapf, it’s our first time working with a producer in six years and our first time writing with two new members, Mason Mercer and Ben Russin. This album directly confronts common emotions and internal struggles.”

The song comes with a music video edited by Bear Hanrahan that splices together footage of Citizen onstage and behind the scenes, and you can check that out below.

You can also catch Citizen on tour this fall, with Narrow Head and Modern Color on all dates, plus additional support from Cryogeyser, Spine, Onionizm, and LUCY (aka Cooper B Handy), varying by date. See the dates below.
