The ‘Clone High’ reboot we’ve been waiting for is finally happening

It looks like another reboot is on its way. In June, the highly-awaited Daria spin-off Jodie was announced. Then, Comedy Central revealed a Beavis and Butt-Head reboot is happening. Now, it looks like Clone High is finally returning to television.

The short-lived animated series is getting a reimagined reboot for MTV.

Clone High was created back in the 2000s and only 13 episodes of the show were released. Clone High aired on MTV in the United States and Teletoon in Canada.

Like the original show, the Clone High reboot will follow historical figures who have been cloned and placed in high school. The show’s characters include Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, John F. Kennedy and more. Together, they face the normal trials and tribulations of teenage life and school.

The original show creators are on board for the reboot. Phil Lord and Chris Miller have made names for themselves in the industry. They are the Oscar-winning filmmakers behind blockbusters such as The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. They are also directing 2022’s untitled Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel.

Together, Lord and Miller are reimaging Clone High with co-creator Bill Lawrence. The show is being revisited to better relate to teenagers and young adults today. At this time, no air date for the reboot has been released.

The news of the Clone High reboot follows up the news of both a Daria spinoff and Beavis and Butt-Head reboot. Two new seasons of Beavis and Butt-Head are in the works and will air on Comedy Central. The Daria spinoff Jodie is also heading to Comedy Central.

Over the years, there has been a massive resurgence in adult animated shows. Programs including Bob’s Burgers, Bojack HorsemanSouth Park, Rick and Morty and Family Guy continue to be a few of the most successful programs today.
