We were devastated after we saw last week's episode of Riverdale, and while we should have expected what happened, we never thought we'd see the day that the show would potentially kill off this major character.

Before we continue this article, let's take a brief moment to go over what exactly happened on Riverdale's S02E21—if you haven't watched and don't mind spoilers (we assume you don't if you've clicked this), then please proceed. At the end of the episode, Jughead is beaten up and carried offscreen by his father, which has left many fans wondering if he's dead or injured.

After last week's episode, Sprouse shared a tweet that had us thinking that he was saying his goodbyes to the show:

“Grateful, thank you #riverdale,” the actor wrote.

Today, Sprouse took to his Instagram to give his followers a sneak preview of the show's season finale, and it's safe to say that our hearts are broken:

After last week's episode and seeing this picture, we're feeling incredibly nervous for Jughead, but we can't say we're surprised. As previously reported, Sprouse has been teasing his fate on the show for a few weeks now.

Remember when he congratulated the cast of the show for getting picked up for a third season but didn't mention himself in the tweet, or the time he cryptically tweeted: “Why put actor, model, singer, dancer, writer, creator in your bio when you can just put unemployed?”

While we'd like to think he was just trolling his followers, after seeing what the show's creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared during last week's episode, it got us thinking that tonight's episode might really be the last episode we'll see Jughead, saying: “It’s very hard not to spoil next week’s #Riverdale, but it’s literally heart-stopping (for one of our characters).”

That tweet alone was enough to stop our hearts.

We're not sure what to make of all of this, but one thing is for sure: We're not OK.
