Hear Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie join Corey Taylor for his debut solo single

Back in 2019, Corey Taylor unveiled his plans to release a solo album and eventually tour. Although coronavirus has potentially put a halt to his tour plans, Taylor is still following through with his music plans.

Now, after much anticipation, Taylor has released his debut single “CMFT Must Be Stopped,” off of his forthcoming debut solo album CMFT. The new single features rappers Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie.

Over the years, Taylor has shown his talent in various creative industries. Outside of his roles as a frontman, musician and creator for Slipknot and Stone Sour, Taylor is also a New York Times best-selling author.

Since his solo music plans were announced in 2019, Taylor has been hard at work in the studio. In May, Taylor finally revealed that he secretly recorded his debut solo album. He says that the album will be filled with songs he’s written over the years for Slipknot and Stone Sour that never quite seemed to fit with either project.

“All the songs are things that I’ve written over the years but they didn’t really fit with either band,” Taylor says. “So it’s stuff that I’ve just kind of been sitting on. And I realized — I just kind of turned around and I was just, like, ‘Geez, I’ve got all these songs.’ And I’ve been kind of talking about doing a solo album anyway, and I was just, like, ‘This is the perfect time to do it.’”

He also previously confirmed that the album will be based in rock, but he is exploring with other genres.

Now, the anticipation is over and fans are finally getting a taste of Taylor’s solo music. On Wednesday, he debuted not one, but two new singles off of his forthcoming album CMFT.

Along with the release of the nostalgia-filled single “Black Eyes Blue,” Taylor is debuting his solo project with the explosive single “CMFT Must Be Stopped.” For the new song, he is joined by rappers Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie. Together, the trio creates a genre-bending single that is full of power and rhythms reminiscent of Slipknot’s debut album.

As well, Taylor has unveiled a star-studded video for “CMFT Must Be Stopped.” The video features numerous iconic cameos including Marilyn Manson, Judas Priest‘s Rob Halford, Metallica‘s Lars Ulrich and more.

Taylor has previously worked with Tech N9ne on the song “Wither” in 2015. As well, he and Kid Bookie reworked a version of the rapper’s song “Stuck In My Ways” just last year.

CMFT was recorded at Hideout Studios in Las Vegas with producer Jay Ruston. Taylor’s band Zach Throne (guitar), Stone Sour’s Christian Martucci (guitar), Jason Christopher (bass), and Dustin Robert (drums) also helped record the debut album.

CMFT arrives on Oct. 2nd via Roadrunner Records. Album pre-orders with limited edition vinyl pressings and merch bundles are available here.
