Crown the empire, news recap

Watch Crown The Empire explore the future of technology in new music video

Another era of Crown The Empire is upon us. “20/20” is the post-hardcore band’s first release since Retrograde in 2016. With an exciting music video to match, their latest single promises a new step for the band.

Taken from their forthcoming album, “20/20” features a catchy, passionate bridge with killer harmonies between shredding guitar and heavy bass lines. Despite losing their co-vocalist Dave Escamilla a year ago, frontman Andy Leo delivers a solid vocal performance. With just a touch of electronicore, the song’s instrumental composition reflects the new video seamlessly.

The music video casts a creepy, sci-fi vibe, taking the viewer on a journey through the relationship between humans and technology. The characters, dressed in hospital gowns with wires hooked up to their skulls, share an ardent dreamscape. The two invade the most personal parts of each other’s minds, and the viewer is left wondering what will happen to them. With glitchy, cool-toned shots, the cinematography only aids the aura of the song’s nature.

“I started to feel like I was living in a world where, even though we’re more connected than ever, I felt more alone than ever,” Leo says of the track. “It’s too easy to point the finger at vanity and self-obsession in technology, all the while being just as much a part of it.”

Crown The Empire will be releasing information pertaining to their upcoming album soon. Until then, check out the new video for “20/20” below!
