Dance Gavin Dance reschedule spring tour, Swanfest for late summer

Dance Gavin Dance have announced they are rescheduling their intended spring dates for early August. The new start date will be Aug 4 in Seattle, with the tour ending at Swanfest, Sept. 12 at Papa Murphy’s Park in Sacramento, California. This is the first news of new DGD dates since the coronavirus pandemic put a moratorium on live concerts in the U.S.

“We began the process of rescheduling moments after we realized that we would not be able to have our spring tour begin,” said the band in a statement. “We have done our best to maintain most of the same markets and venues as our previous run.”

In addition, Dance Gavin Dance were able to retain most of the band lineup they had intended to go with originally. Royal Coda were unable to make the rescheduled dates. They will be replaced with a  lineup of Wolf & Bear, Animals As Leaders, Issues and Veil Of Maya.

“We know right now many things are uncertain,” said the statement. “We felt it was very important to our fans, supporting bands and crew to reschedule for a time period we hope will be a safe environment for everyone involved. Things will continue to change rapidly and we’ll actively monitor future situations and make appropriate changes if needed. But for now, we ask that everyone stay safe, follow all our state and local guidelines and practice proper hygiene and social distancing. We look forward to seeing you in August and September.”

Dance Gavin Dance’s ninth album Afterburner, is slated for release by Rise April 24. “Prisoner” and “Strawberry’s Wake” are the first two singles from the album. The label is still going ahead with the intended release date.
