Daniel Radcliffe discusses reason he won't see new 'Harry Potter' play

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child has been playing on Broadway for a while now, but there’s a good chance you won’t be seeing Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, anywhere near a theater it’s playing in.

Last night, Nov. 22, Radcliffe appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where he officially clarified his reasoning for not wanting to go see the play.

“I’ve been asked this a lot and I feel like I always give a boring terrible answer,” the actor began, where he then went on to say that he’s “probably not going to” and that he doesn’t “have plans to” see it.

He then explained that it’s not because seeing a middle-aged Harry would throw him “into some sort of existential crisis, like ‘oh is that what happened?’”

Actually, he explained that his reluctance to see the play is because he doesn’t think that going would “be a relaxing evening in the theater.”

He continued on by saying he would “feel like I [was] being watched for my reaction. And maybe that is completely conceited and egotistical and people wouldn’t care, but I do feel if I was just surrounded by Harry Potter fans, it would be a little odd.”

Yeah…we can’t fault him for feeling a bit awkward sitting in a room full of Harry Potter fans.

Meyers then asked Radcliffe he would consider wearing a disguise to the production, but he wasn’t down for that, saying:

“The thing about a disguise,” Radcliffe said, “is that if it stops working, then you’re just a dude who wore a disguise.”

We can’t say we blame Radcliffe for not going to the play, but we so wouldn’t mind seeing him come back to the world of Harry Potter every once in a while.

While Radcliffe won’t be seeing Cursed Child anytime soon, we can’t help but wonder if he’ll be making any appearances in the theater for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.

Recently, the thrilling final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes OfGrindelwald was finally released, and per the suggestion of J.K. Rowling, fans should have stayed to the very end.

“There’s a lot in there for you guys,” Rowling said, per Deadline Hollywood. “When you see the trailer, don’t speak to each other until the end because there’s a name you’ll want to hear.”
