Davey Suicide proclaims "Rock Ain't Dead" in new video—watch
Industrial glam-metal prince Davey Suicide gets ready to beat our synapses into submission with the video for “Rock Ain’t Dead,” the title track from his next record, slated for release Jan. 24, 2020.
A cross between George Lucas’ 1971 sci-fi thriller THX 1138 and a titillating vampire movie (with a slight tribute to Aphex Twin’s “Come To Daddy”), the video—produced by Richard Villa III/Exhibit A Gallery—features some sweet hi-tech dystopia. Suicide set the scenario for us, accordingly.

“In a not so distant future, all aspects of human existence are being controlled,” he explains. “Where ‘silence is a virtue’ and most freedoms like artistic expression are forbidden in a world of fabricated reality.
“Those in power have been determined that rock music had no redeemable qualities and is corrupting to the culture and is no longer an acceptable form of music or entertainment.
“In the year 2039 in Los Angeles, rock music is no more than delusional memories of a sadistic past of the un-evolved,” Suicide continues. “Rock music and other antisocial expressions are forbidden in this new, perfectly sterile society. All creative expressions have been deemed socially toxic and poisoning human uniformity. The only way for anyone to be expressive or to experience any form of creativity is through the illegal use of Drug Enhanced Virtual Reality (DEVR). This underground DEVR experience is only obtained by those who seek it on the streets of back alleys hidden in the shadows. For those wanting to participate in this type of DEVR experience, they are warned: ‘This type of music is forbidden, and any partaking in it is punishable by death. Proceed at your own risk.’

Suicide’s fourth album, Rock Ain’t Dead, is slated for release on Out Of Line Music/InGrooves, was produced by Charles Kallaghan Massabo (Falling In Reverse) and features the participation of such excellent folks as Telle Smith (The Word Alive), Gustav Wood (Young Guns), Hyro The Hero and Blacklisted Me.
