Michael C. Hall is rolling out the plastic again for a new ‘Dexter’ series
It looks like Dexter isn’t quite done with his revenge killings just yet.
The popular TV series is officially getting a limited revival at Showtime and, of course, Michael C. Hall is returning.

It’s hard to believe it’s been seven years since Dexter came to an end. As we remember from the final episodes (spoilers ahead), Hall’s Dexter Morgan faked his death and began living under a new name in Oregon. All of this happened after he wrecked his boat and escaped from a hospital with his sister’s body.
Now, it looks like we will finally know what happened to Dexter after all these years. The new Dexter revival is a direct continuation of where the original series left off. Showtime has ordered 10 new episodes that will reunite Hall with showrunner Clyde Phillips.

“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” Showtime Entertainment president Gary Levine says. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can’t wait to shoot it and show it to the world.”

So far, no specific details about the revival series have been shared. However, Deadline reports that production is set to begin in early 2021 with a tentative premiere date of fall 2021. As well, it is unknown if any other original writers and cast members are returning for the new series.
Dexter aired on Showtime from 2006-2013 and earned various awards throughout its run. Hall, who plays the blood-splatter expert by day and killer by night, earned five Emmy nominations for Dexter. As well, he took home Golden Globe and SAG awards for the role in 2010.
Following the news on Wednesday, the internet has exploded with reactions and thoughts about the revival. While some are excited about the return of Dexter, others think the series should be left alone including Every Time I Die‘s Jordan Buckley.
