UPDATE: Saturday Sept. 10, 2016 @ 6:50 p.m. EST

Die Antwoord apparently not breaking up in 2017; say journalist “twisted” their words.

ORIGINAL POST:

In an interview with Exclaim!, Die Antwoord's Ninja confirmed that the group would be breaking up September 2017. “Die Antwoord dies on that day. It's all over. I feel beautiful about it. I'm not scared of the end,” he told the media source. “I'm a Ninja. I'm not scared of death.”

Their disbandment is set to follow an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Modern Art Africa in Cape Town, South Africa, along with a movie that will be giving a reflective look at their career.

“There's this movie we're making called South African Ninja, that we've been working on forever—literally like ten years—and we've just been finishing it off now,” Ninja tells Exclaim!. “That's been our well that we've been drinking from and drawing from since the beginning of Die Antwoord… It's a South African gangster film that has African ninjas in it. Everything in the film is fictitious, like a regular movie, but it's hard and raw, and everything has some parallel to our lives, so it's got a surreal connection to everything.”

Die Antwoord have also released a new track, “Fat Faded Fuck Face,” taken off their new album Mount Ninji and Da Nice Time Kid, set to drop September 16, which you can listen to below.

The duo started in 2008, producing three studio albums, and had remained silent for two years before returning this year with SUCK ON THIS.
