Disneyland Paris to host first-ever Pride celebration

Disney is finally hosting an official Pride event, and it’s about time.

Disneyland Paris is set to become the first Disney park to host a Pride event. It is set to take place June 1.

There will be special events and activities at the park to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community including live music, karaoke and a parade. The park made the announcement on its website.

“Life your best life and shien with the joy of diversity at Magical Pride, a dazzling party lighting up Disneyland Paris,” the statement reads. “Dress like a dream, feel fabulous and experience Walt Disney Studios Park like never before – loud, proud and alive with all the colours of the rainbow.”

Even though this is the first time a Disney park has held its own celebration, it’s not the first time Pride has taken place at Disney. California Disneyland has hosted Pride until 1998 when Gay Day Anaheim began. Also, at Walt Disney World in Florida, there are Gay Days in August. However, these events are not sanctioned by Disney so the Pride even in Paris will be the first.

If you can’t make it to Paris for the celebration, Gay Days Orlando takes place this year on Aug. 13-19 and Gay Days Anaheim will be from Oct. 4-6.

The park is offering packages for the entire weekend. They include two or three nights at a Disney hotel, a two-day Disney Park Hopper Ticket, early access to selected attractions and entrance into the Magical Pride Party. They range from about $340  to $2,400  per person.
