Djo (Stranger Things' Joe Keery) sounds like a modern-day DEVO on new single "Gloom"

Djo, better known as Joe Keery, has shared another new track, “Gloom.” The single previews the Stranger Things star’s new album, DECIDE.

DECIDE drops Sept. 16.

On “Gloom,” Djo tackles the darker side of synth-pop. In the beginning, Djo’s vocals and a lush kick stand against a vigorous guitar groove. As the song continues, his voice shifts to match the tone and latent aggression of his stringed accompaniment.

DEVO’s influence on the song is unmistakable. The whole track is a strangely inflected, absurd lamentation for self and society that’s sure to get stuck in your head.

This year, Djo is scheduled to play at LollapaloozaSea.Hear.Now and Austin City Limits Festival.
