Does this confirm the Hargreeves are in for ‘Umbrella Academy’ season 3?

With so many shows and films delayed amid the coronavirus pandemic, a lot of Umbrella Academy fans are concerned about when they will see the Hargreeves siblings back in action again.

Well, it looks like the dysfunctional family may be making a return for season 3 sooner than you think. According to a new report, filming for the Netflix series is right around the corner.

At the end of July, fans were finally treated to the highly-anticipated season 2 of The Umbrella Academy. Along with various hidden Easter eggs, fans witnessed the Hargreeves siblings travel back in time to the 1960s. After narrowly escaping the apocalypse again, the dysfunctional family returned to the Umbrella Academy and left viewers with the ultimate cliffhanger.

Since the release of season 2, there hasn’t been too much information released about season 3. Now, according to one report, plans for filming are already in the works for the Netflix series. According to ProductionWeekly, filming for The Umbrella Academy will reportedly begin on Feb. 1, 2021 and wrap in August.

However, fans may not want to get all that excited just yet. Netflix hasn’t actually confirmed the filming start date for The Umbrella Academy season 3 yet. For now, we will just have to wait and see if the streaming platform confirms the series’ return in the next few months.

Although specifics about season 3 have not been confirmed, fans can expect to see a lot of The Sparrow Academy. As we saw in the last moments of season 2, The Umbrella Academy arrived back in the “present time,” but soon learned things aren’t quite what they seem. Instead of starting The Umbrella Academy, Sir Reginald Hargreeves created The Sparrow Academy instead.

The latter academy features all-new members from the original 43 children born on Oct. 1, 1989. Along with Lila Pitts, who was introduced in season 2, Ben Hargreeves is also a member of the mysterious Sparrow Academy.

The Sparrow Academy is part of the original comics created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba. However, they don’t appear until the end of the third volume. Showrunner Steve Blackman previously explained why they decided to include the Sparrow Academy in the show early.
