Dumbo the elephant is flying back to the big screen with a Tim Burton twist. Disney's live-action reboot of the movie is hitting theaters next year.

In June, the first trailer introduced us to the new version, which will be a bit darker than the original. The snippet showed elaborate circus scenes that are as magical as they are creepy. Now, the new trailer gives viewers a little more insight into the well-known story. And the fate of the flying elephant is as heartbreaking as you remember.

In Dumbo, Danny DeVito plays the circus owner who recruits Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) to care for a newborn elephant with large ears. The circus starts using the elephant to make money after it demonstrates its ability to fly. DeVito and Farrell will be joined by other big-name actors such as Eva Green, Michael Keaton and Alan Arkin.

Disney is also sharing the film's synopsis, which you can read in full below:

Circus owner Max Medici (DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

Dumbo will hit theaters March 29, 2019.
