Elliot Page offers look at 'Umbrella Academy' season 3 set as filming begins

We are getting closer to finally seeing the Hargreeves siblings and Sparrow Academy come face to face in The Umbrella Academy season 3.

This week, Elliot Page confirmed filming for the new season has begun by giving a rare glimpse at the Netflix series’ set.

Back in December, Elliot Page came out as transgender and non-binary in a powerful personal letter. Soon after, rumors emerged that Page may not be portraying Vanya Hargreeves in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy. However, both the show and Netflix made it known that that is far from the truth. In fact, eagle-eyed fans have noticed Page’s credits have already been updated on the streaming service.

Back in November, rumors first emerged that production for season 3 was set to begin this February. Soon after, Netflix confirmed that The Umbrella Academy team is getting back together this month to film the new episodes. Now, it looks like Page has finally reunited with their dysfunctional Hargreeves siblings for season 3.

On Tuesday, Page confirmed filming for the new season is underway by giving a rare glimpse at The Umbrella Academy set. The photo shows a director’s chair along with both The Umbrella Academy and Sparrow Academy’s symbols. Of course, many fans have already seen the Sparrow Academy symbol thanks to that difficult season 2 Easter egg hunt.

Over the past few weeks, some behind-the-scenes secrets have been shared. Last month, Justin H. Min channeled the new Ben fans can expect to see in the upcoming season while revealing how the first script read-through went.

As we all remember, the end of season 2 left most viewers on edge. The Hargreeves siblings returned to the “present time” only to learn that Sir Reginald Hargreeves created The Sparrow Academy instead of The Umbrella Academy.

Among the members of The Sparrow Academy is Ben, who is now No. 2. As a result, TUA fans can expect a completely different Ben than they’ve seen in past episodes. In fact, it seems as though sweet old Ben may be gone for good.

“This is not the sweet Ben we know and love,” Deadline reports. “This Ben is a Machiavellian tactician, wrapped up in a pretty boy body with a rumbling inner-squid. Vicious, pragmatic, and hyper-vigilant— Ben is determined to gain his status as the leader at all costs.”

In mid-January, Netflix officially introduced the new actors joining season 3 as members of The Sparrow Academy – No. 1 aka Marcus (Justin Cornell), No. 3 aka Fei (Britne Oldford), No. 4 aka Alphonso (Jake Epstein), No. 5 aka Sloane (Genesis Rodriguez) and No. 6 aka Jayme (Cazzie David). The final member of the academy is No. 7 or Christopher, an “existential dread-inducing psykronium cube.”

Many The Umbrella Academy fans commented on the post, asking where Christopher is. Currently, the actor behind this mysterious cube is unknown. However, Deadline‘s description of No. 7 is raising some eyebrows.

“Christopher is a telekinetic cube of unknown origin,” Deadline says. “He can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralyzing fear. He acts as the Sparrows’ consulted oracle who hands out incredible advice and serves as the family mediator.”

According to Deadline, the character will have a voice. This detail has caused fan theories to emerge that Gerard Way may finally make a cameo as the voice of No.7. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Last year, Alternative Press interviewed Justin H. Min who spilled some secrets about The Sparrow Academy and what’s in store for season 3.
