Elton John applauds Eminem’s apology for using homophobic slur

Eminem recently came under fire for using a homophobic slur directed at Tyler the Creator. However, Elton John has his own perspective on the matter, praising the rapper for apologizing for using the slur.

In his song “Fall,” Eminem wrote disses for both Tyler the Creator and Earl Sweatshirt. The homophobic diss reads, “Tyler create nothin’, I see why you called yourself a (f****t), bitch.”

An interview series with Sway reveals Eminem’s Marshall Mathers retracted his wording.

“In my quest to hurt him, I realize that I was hurting a lot of other people by saying it,” Mathers says. “In the midst of everything else that was going on on this album, it was one of the things that I kept going back to going, ‘I don’t feel right with this.’”

According to NME, a forthcoming interview between John and Mathers revealed the ‘Rocket Man’ applauds the rapper for his growth.

“You’re still as feisty as you ever were which I love. I do like a little bit of feistiness,” John says in the podcast. “I’m very happy that you said you don’t get to use the word f****t anymore because I think you don’t need… you’re bigger than that.”

John goes on to say that he loves “Killshot.”

“I’m glad you said that and cleared that up and that’s great kudos to you for that,” John says. “Well done. And you know, you’ve had your little moments towards Machine Gun Kelly and you put out the diss track “Kill Shot,” which I love, by the way.”

The forthcoming Rocket Hour interview will air on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Oct. 13 here.
