It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 10 years since we last heard new material from Evanescence. However, back in 2019, Amy Lee finally confirmed that Evanescence planned to release their new album sometime in 2020.

Then, shortly after they unveiled the tour dates for their now-rescheduled Worlds Collide tour, Evanescence made their return with “Wasted On You.” The single’s debut marked their first piece of original music since 2011’s Evanescence.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Evanescence originally planned to release The Bitter Truth incrementally throughout 2020. The reason? Well, they feel like their fans need this new music more than ever.

“As far as business is concerned, this is considered a terrible time to release,” Lee said. “But we believe that people need music now more than ever. We do, and we’re not going to wait to share it because who knows what tomorrow brings. Who knows if it even comes? This is who we really are and we’re calling out across the world for a connection.”

Throughout the rest of the year, Evanescence kept their promise and released even more new songs. In July, they debuted their emotional guitar-driven singleThe Game Is Over.” Then in August, “Use My Voicewas released ahead of the 2020 presidential election. Evanescence are joined by Lzzy Hale, the Pretty RecklessTaylor Momsen, Within Temptation‘s Sharon den Adel and more on the powerful song.

Upon the release of “Use My Voice,” Lee revealed that she hopes the song will inspire individuals to speak up for themselves in every situation they encounter.

“This is an era of awakening, and full of powerful beauty,” Lee said. “I hope to inspire others to seek truth, find their own voices, and use them as I step up to use mine. Don’t let anybody speak for you. Only you can do that.”

Now, Evanescence have finally confirmed when fans can hear the rest of The Bitter Truth. The highly-anticipated album is officially arriving on Mar. 26, 2021. In celebration of the news, Evanescence have also debuted their new song “Yeah Right.”

The heavy new track reveals a more self-cynical view of the experiences Evanescence have had in the music industry over the years. Between Lee’s powerful vocals and the playful nature of the entire track, “Yeah Right” is another classic addition to Evanescence’s discography.
