Evanescence aim to drop new album in 2020, Amy Lee says

Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee has come out to discuss the band’s forthcoming album and when fans can expect it.

Previously, the band has discussed spending much of 2019 focusing on new music, but never had a specific timeline in place.

The new album will be a follow up to the band’s 2011 self-titled record. Lee spoke to SiriusXM’s Grant Random about new music.

“This is sort of a creation year for us,” Lee said. “We’re playing a few festivals and some headlining shows — a little bit, but not too heavy. And in the time in between, getting together and starting the writing process for a new album.”

She also said that fans will have new music by “hopefully next year.”

“We’re just gonna get together and see what happens this month, and start doing that more regularly until we feel like we’re ready to do it,” Lee said.

You can see the full video of the interview below.

Lee has previously spoken out about the new record. According to an interview with 93.3 WMMR Rocks! in December, she says the band are all on board to return to their roots.

“We all really wanna do it,” Lee says. “And it’s not one of those things where it’s like, ‘Someday, maybe we’ll do something again.’ Everybody’s on board, and we’re getting together to do a few shows next year in [the self-titled] style–partially because I think it’ll be good for us to get back to that root, just get back to playing Evanescence-style rock ’n’ roll and just jive together again.”
