Exclusive: Weezer, Social Distortion, Descendents headline 2011 Riot Fest in Chicago

Weezer, the Descendents and Social Distortion are among the headliners of the 2011 Red Bull Riot Fest, which takes place at various venues in Chicago, Illinois, from October 5-9, 2011. Other notable bands playing this year’s fest include X (performing their Los Angeles album in its entirety), Youth of Today, Suicide Machines, ALL (featuring Scott Reynolds, Chad Price and Dave Smalley) and Helmet. A full list of confirmed acts is below.

Riot Fest also promises a final headliner announcement on Friday, June 24, at 9 a.m. CST. In a statement, founder Mike Petryshyn says:

“The very final headliner announcement is very special for me personally, and almost needless to say, it’s something that I never thought would happen. We thought that this deserves its very own separate announcement, and I’m happy to say that we’ll be doing it with a few close friends that you might know this upcoming Friday.”

Multi-day passes and individual tickets go on sale Friday, June 24 at 10 a.m. CST via Ticketfly. The $145 festival pass includes access to all Riot Fest 2011 shows and access to exclusive secret shows; the $135 Congress Pass grants access into the October 6-9 Congress Theater shows. ($99 early-bird festival passes are sold out.)

In addition, it was announced today that the first Riot Fest East will take place on September 24 in Philadelphia, at Festival Pier at Penn's Landing. Bands confirmed so far include Descendents, Dead Milkmen, X (also playing Los Angeles), Plow United, Hot Water Music, Naked Raygun, Suicide Machines, Samiam, the Menzingers, Shot Baker, Larry and His Flask and the Holy Mess. Tickets are $34.50, and are on sale this Friday, June 24, at 10 a.m EST.
