Explosions at Boston Marathon leave several injured, two dead

According to the Reuters, two explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon have turned the large-scale sporting event into a site of panic with as many as 23 people left injured and two dead.

“The explosions occurred at about 2:45 p.m., more than two hours after the first of the race's nearly 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line,” CNN reported.

Further information about the explosions is not yet known, but it is being investigated. The following statement was released on the Boston Marathon Facebook page:

“There were two bombs that exploded near the finish line in today's Boston Marathon. We are working with law enforcement to understand what exactly has happened.”
