Fall Out Boy announce 'Flappy Bird' clone, 'Fall Out Bird'

If you own a smartphone, chances are you've heard of Flappy Bird, a simple mobile game which spiked to unexpected success in recent weeks. Unhappy with the amount of attention and pressure the game's success incurred, Vietnamese creator Dong Nguyen abruptly pulled Flappy Bird from the App Store and Google Play over the weekend.

Among those upset about the game's untimely demise? Fall Out Boy. In Flappy Bird's honor, the rockers have announced their own clone of the game dubbed Fall Out Bird, which will arrive on both Google Play and the App Store as soon as it is approved. Little else is known about the game, though it appears to simply be a Flappy Bird knockoff featuring the members of FOB.

Fall Out Boy fans must be extra excited or Flappy Bird fans must be jonesing for their fix, because shortly after the game's announcement, it became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter.

Though not a direct sequel, Fall Out Bird serves as something of a spiritual successor to Fall Out Boy's previous foray into video game knockoffs: 2009's Fall Out Boy Trail.
