For the past 20 years, Fall Out Boy has been one of the most revered bands in the pop-punk scene. Throughout eight records, Patrick Stump, Pete Wentz, Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have pushed the boundaries of rock music and have inherited a cult fandom. Five years since its last LP, the band released its eighth studio album So Much (for) Stardust in late March, which paid homage to the band’s punk roots but ultimately left much room for experimentation.

5. “Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes”
On Folie à Deux, Fall Out Boy entered into more experimental territory with impulsive tempo shifts, genre and time signature changes and boundary-pushing theatrics. One of the standout tracks on the 2008 record remains “Disloyal Order of Water Buffaloes,” a stunning guitar anthem flanked by organs and Patrick Stump’s towering vocals. Like so many Fall Out Boy songs, its upbeat melody shrouds a more wistful message.
