According to Variety, Warner Bros. released some plot hints for us to comb over while we wait for the movie, saying: “Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizards above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Albus Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander.”

Johnny Depp will play the role of Grindelwald, and young Dumbledore will be played by Jude Law. Rowling has said that during their youth, Dumbledore found himself in love with Grindelwald. However, after growing apart, Dumbledore became shocked to see his friend grow into a villain.

Rowling states that “you will see Dumbledore as a younger man and quite a troubled man. We’ll see him at that formative period of his life.”

In the past, she's spoken out about Dumbledore's sexual orientation, claiming, “Dumbledore fell in love with Grindelwald, and that added to his horror when Grindelwald showed himself to be what he was.”

While we'd love to see some romance between the two, there's no word yet as to whether the film will explore the possible relationship between Grindelwald and Dumbledore.

Though, the main action of the film will be set in 1920s Paris, quite a romantic setting if you ask us. Other returning characters include Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol), Jacob (Dan Fogler), Theseus (Callum Turner) and Credence (Ezra Miller). New characters include Leta Lestrange (Zoe Kravitz), Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam), Grimmson (Ingvar Sigurdsson), Skender (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson), Abernathy (Kevin Guthrie) and a circus attraction played by Claudia Kim, as Variety reports.

As with the last film, the screenplay was written by Rowling, and David Yates will direct. The film, which is currently untitled, is expected to hit theaters November 2018.
