10 Neck Deep lyrics we can't get out of our heads

We hear that it's a very special day in the Neck Deep camp—two members, Ben Barlow and Sam Bowden, are celebrating birthdays today! Have a great one, guys.

QUIZ: How well do you remember the lyrics to Neck Deep’s “Can’t Kick Up The Roots”?

To celebrate, we rallied up some of our favorite lyrics from the pop punk titans. Which Neck Deep song is your favorite? Did you catch the band on Warped this year? Let us know in the comments!

And don't forget, Neck Deep's upcoming album The Peace And The Panic is out August 18 on Hopeless Records! Pre-order it here.

1. “Now all I can do is lay in my room, fall asleep, dream of you, then wake up and do nothing about it”

“A Part Of Me” is one of the band's classic love songs, and an acoustic cut that swells into the perfect singalong at the end. To be honest, sometimes we tear up a little when we hear this line about dreaming of someone, then waking up and remembering they're not yours.

2. “Though we complained about it all, was such a worthwhile waste of my time, every day and each night a memory, take care and please don’t forget me”

One of the biggest pop punk themes is about getting out of your hometown, but “Losing Teeth” remembers where the guys came from fondly: Even though the days at home seemed like there was nothing to do, they're still your best memories when the time finally comes to leave.

3. “Cause you've had your own mountains to climb, and I've got skeletons I hide, in the back of my mind where I question myself, I dwell on the past just like everyone else”

“Growing Pains” is a reminder that everyone is battling their own demons, and that's exactly why we can and should support each other. Plus, doesn't that lyric sound like it's referenced in “I've been moving mountains that I once had to climb” in “Gold Steps”? We hope so…

4. “Sometimes things will bend you, but trust me you'll be fine, 'cause I've been moving mountains that I once had to climb.”

Speaking of “Gold Steps,” this song is pretty much an instant classic, and so is the triumphant chorus. This might be one of the most hopeful pop punk songs we've ever heard, and we could always use the reminder that life really isn't out to get us.

5. “Of course I fall for it, just like I did when I was 16. Such a fool for you, did you ever even miss me?”

Cue you screaming “DOUBT IT!” No song is more fun live than “Kali Ma,” and we dig those guest vocals from Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember too.

6. “The world's a fucked up place, but it depends on how you see it. Life is full of change, you grow up and then you feel it”

Life is really hard sometimes, and Neck Deep don't make any pretenses about that “Smooth Seas Don't Make Good Sailors.” And even though “the world's a fucked up place,” this song reminds us that it doesn't mean we won't make it out alive.

7. “I swear to god you saved me, I swear to god you saved me”

We love this line from “Lime St.” because it's a simple but beautiful way to tell someone how much they mean to you. Plus, there's nothing like screaming these lyrics live.

8. “You don’t think about what you say, 'cause your mouth is bigger than your brain. It's a shame, so fake and you’re all the same”

Neck Deep did NOT come to play games when they dropped “Happy Judgement Day,” a politically-charged single from their upcoming album, The Peace And The Panic. This line is a particularly harsh ripper, and we LOVE it.

9. “Feel like I’m right back where I started, sat on the kitchen floor all alone talking to a ghost about where we go when we go”

The high-energy opener “Motion Sickness” is pretty deceiving, considering how painful the lyrics can be in this song. This line in particular stings when we feel the sense of defeat in the words, but it's also a perfect segue into the album's closer…

10. “Pain, pain go away, come back another day, I just wanna get one up on life before it kills me”

Talk about lyrics we can't get out of our heads! The nursery-rhyme-style hook from “Where Do We Go When We Go” is an anthem for moving forward, even when the obstacles in life are trying to kill you. The song goes back and forth between wondering what the point of it all is, and deciding that it doesn't really matter—even if you don't know the point to life, you may as well live it. The Peace And The Panic couldn't have a better closing song, and we're already spinning this track on repeat.

That's all we've got for you! What's your favorite Neck Deep song? Let us know in the comments!
