11 songs to nominate for your graduation song to prove you’re a true emo

So you thought that being on your school’s graduation committee would be fun—or at least that it would get you out of calculus once a month. But now you’ve gotten to song nominations and you’re not going to sit idly by while they nominate Sarah McLachlan. Here are 11 songs to nominate for your graduation song, even if you’re the only one who will vote for them.

Head Automatica – “Graduation Day”

This is a true classic and a throwback—what more do you want?

Neck Deep – “Can’t Kick Up The Roots”

A song about looking back while moving forward. No regrets!

All Time Low – “Let It Roll”

All about forgotten memories, this song will make you actually feel something about leaving this place.

Green Day – “Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)”

Okay, people might actually get on board with this iconic track. The right amount of emo (you are graduating, after all) mixed with some legit sentimentality will get some voters on your side.

The Wonder Years – “My Last Semester”

One of the Philly pop-punk outfit’s most iconic songs, paired with lyrics that everyone at graduation will relate to.

The Maine – “Growing Up”

One of their most thoughtful and poignant tracks, this cut from the Maine will have everyone bawling.

Fall Out Boy – “Sophomore Slump Or Comeback Of The Year”

“Are we growing up, or just going down?” So, basically all of senior year.

Pierce The Veil – “Fast Times At Clairemont High”

Obviously best if you actually went to school at Clairemont High, but hey, would probably still work.

Bowling For Soup – “My Hometown”

For when you love the people (sort of), but hate the place. Or, hell, nominate “High School Never Ends”—everyone knows that’s true.

The 1975 – “Pressure”

Leaving for college brings a change in pressure, indeed.

Blink-182 – “Family Reunion”

Some of us didn’t have the best high school experience. This song illustrates our feelings perfectly.
