Artists react to President Trump's Muslim Ban
Yesterday, thousands of people around the country gathered to support their Muslim neighbors, including the massive gathering at JFK International Airport, in opposition to President Trump's executive order to ban citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the United States. The order called for barring entry for these citizens for 90 days and totally shutting down refugee resettlement for 120 days.
According to Rolling Stone, by last night, judges in New York City, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington State had blocked parts of Trump's order, and a federal judge in New York issued an emergency order temporarily barring the US from deporting people from nations subject to Trump's travel ban.
Mic.com explains that the temporary win does not “wholly invalidate Trump's immigration restrictions or guarantee that all migrants won't be detained at airports.”
And ACLU's Lee Gelernt told Rolling Stone that there is so much more left to do to help those already detained by Trump's order.
“It says: anybody who has come here and been subjected to the Trump executive order may not be removed back to their home country until the court figures out whether the executive order is lawful,” Gelernt tells Rolling Stone. “The court didn't order the government to release everyone to their families.”
Many artists spoke out to spread a message of unity, love and support on social media. See some of the most powerful messages below.

If your band would rather keep fans than do the right thing, you're on the wrong side of history and don't deserve your platform
— Buddy Nielsen (@buddythechud) January 28, 2017
Few bands in this scene have any sort of mention about what is going on in America right now. That is because they value profit above all.
