On The Road Again: Before You Exit, Part Two

[The Orlando, FL pop-rock quartet Before You Exit are currently on their first cross-country tour in a bus. As they travel, the band will be filling AP in on how the tour is going. This is part two of the series! Photos by Chris Martin.]

January 16th—Denver, Colorado
We arrived at the Summit Music Hall and the weather was anything but warm. The venue’s stage was extremely tall off the ground, which made loading onto the stage a fun experience. The green room definitely made up for the weather, because it was massive and all of the bands shared it. Before the show we even got to do an interview with MuchMusic live via Skype!

That night, we played second in the lineup, giving us a 25-minute set to an extremely energetic crowd. The fans were amazing, and we made sure to hang out as long as we could before we had to leave for our 11-hour drive to Salt Lake City to play early on [ABC TV show] Good Things Utah. As we left the venue we noticed a thick coat of snow over the bus and almost everything in sight. We were not sure if we were going to make it on time; we knew it was going to be a close one.

January 17–Salt Lake City, Utah
Such a long day! This morning started out with stressfully and quickly trying to drive ten hours from Denver, Colorado, to Salt Lake City, Utah, so that we could make our first morning show of the tour. Luckily, we showed up to play for Good Things Utah ten minutes early. I will say, it was quite the experience, considering the intense time crunch of a drive.

After leaving the ABC station, we headed over to the Complex, where we started loading in for tonight’s show.  The venue was huge and looked like a large warehouse, inside and out. Because of the size, after loading in we quickly busted out the football and got some of our buds in the other bands to play football with us. Around 6 p.m., we went on to play. The stage was extremely tall with an extremely steep ramp, making loading the gear really difficult but that did not stop an awesome show. Loved Salt Lake City and also all of the beautiful scenery around us.

January 18—Boise, Idaho
A year ago, we came to Boise to play paintball with All Time Low—and now we are back again, but this time we are playing an actual show! We got to the venue to unload and it was snowing. That snow turned to slush. That slush made unloading really slow, but we got everything in okay. The venue was big and spacey with a big stage. Before the show, we had a sub place called Gandalfo’s that we had to go to. We took the Hollywood Ending and the After Party guys with us on our food journey.

As the day moved on, the slush that was once snow became rivers on the sidewalk. Our bus was parked two blocks away, and it was raining, so we mostly stayed in the venue. The show started, though, and we waited till it was our turn to go on. We played third tonight for the first time. We had a great time on stage, and though this was a smaller show, the crowd was into it, too. We got to hang out with the fans after the show and thank them for coming out. Bad weather can’t stop us from having a good time!
