Photo Journal: Behind AFI bassist Hunter Burgan's Macbeth shoot

When AP contributing photographer RYAN RUSSELL told us that he was shooting Anthony Green of Circa Survive, Tegan And Sara, Hunter Burgan of AFI and Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance/Leathermouth for Macbeth's 2010 catalog, we asked if he could slide us a couple of the pics real stealthy-like. Since Russell is a classically trained ninja, he had no trouble sending us these shots, all based around an art concept depicting the deconstruction of a city. Macbeth will be adding a lot of post-production magic to these, but we're letting you see them as Russell took them, complete with the stories behind each shoot.

THIS INSTALLMENT: HUNTER BURGAN of AFI "I had never met Hunter before or had any connection with him on a personal basis. Jimmy from Macbeth had seen a location when they were filming Angels And Airwaves' "Secret Crowds" video and he thought it would fit perfectly for Hunter's shoot. So we went there to this Mad Max-looking underside belly of a street. It had these long fluorescent lights that would help with theme Macbeth was going for since they resembled energy rods. AFI were working on their next record at the time, so it was rad that Hunter could take time out to do the photos."
