10 times our favorite fast-food restaurants betrayed us

For decades now, fast-food restaurants have continued to break our hearts by removing beloved favorites off their menu.

Even more recently, Taco Bell upset us by removing so many menu items that we truly didn’t know if we could take it.

Because the wound is fresh, we decided to go down the rabbit hole and remember all of the times when fast-food restaurants betrayed us by removing menu items. You can check those out below.

Taco Bell potatoes

As if 2020 wasn’t bad enough, Taco Bell decided to completely mess up their menu by removing all potato items. That means no more loaded potato grillers or spicy potato tacos. Now, their vegan offerings are severely reduced, and our trust is broken.

Burger King Cini Minis

If you can remember back to the ’90s, Burger King offered these sweet treats that were way ahead of their time. We definitely devoured these tiny cinnamon buns in one bite, and we wish they would make a permanent comeback at Burger King

McDonald’s McRib

This was a pretty controversial item, as ribs from McDonald’s just sound wrong. But if you loved the McRib, there’s no shame—it was a staple item back in the day. Luckily, McDonald’s does have a history of bringing this item back for a limited time only, so we may have not seen the last of the McRib.

Wendy’s Coffee Toffee Twisted Frosty

When Wendy’s removed this tongue twister of a menu item, we didn’t know what to do with ourselves. It had everything in it, and it was basically a Frappuccino. What’s not to love?

Sonic’s French Toaster breakfast sandwich

This sandwich was everything you could want for breakfast in one bite, which is why it was so disappointing when Sonic removed it from the menu. It was the ultimate on-the-go food and deserved more respect.

McDonald’s Mighty Wings

For a brief period of time, McDonald’s sold wings, and boy were they glorious. The fast-food chain does sell wings in other countries, but for U.S.-based diners, they’re stuck with nuggets.

KFC pickle fried chicken sandwich

This was so wrong and so right at the same time. KFC had the genius idea to brine their chicken with pickle juice before frying it. It had a tangy bite that was honestly delicious, but sadly, it was short-lived on the menu.

Wendy’s Spicy Nuggets

Now, Wendy’s has since reversed their once horrible decision of removing these fan-favorites off the menu, but only after getting bullied on Twitter about it. The restaurant challenged its Twitter followers to give them 2 million likes on one tweet, which they succeeded at. So Wendy’s had to keep their end of the bargain by bringing back the nuggets, thankfully.

Taco Bell shredded chicken

Another recent casualty of the ever-changing Taco Bell menu is the removal of all items with shredded chicken. While they still offer grilled chicken, it’s not as tasty. And unfortunately, we’ll no longer be able to enjoy shredded chicken burritos during our late-night Taco Bell runs.

KFC Double Down

This monstrosity was essentially just a chicken sandwich, but instead of a bun, two pieces of chicken acted as the bread. As if that weren’t enough, they also smothered it with cheese and threw bacon on it. It honestly wasn’t shocking that this strange item didn’t last long in the U.S., but it was indeed tasty and will be missed.
