Harkening back to the days of the 1980s female powerhouse vocalist comes Barb Wire Dolls’ “If I Fall” from their new album Rub My Mind.
Check the track out below:
The new album features 13 eclectic tracks mixed by Jay Baumgardner (Evanescene, John Fogerty, Bush) that feel poignant in today’s world.
To lead singer Isis Queen, making music has been an important facet in her life. Struggling with depression, she says she hopes this song inspires people to never lose hope on the path to seeking a positive change.
She adds the song is meant to send a “message of self-empowerment and self-realization...to reach others who have felt the way I did before."

The other day, a young teenager came to a Barb Wire Dolls show and told me personally that she was on the verge of suicide, but after seeing our band live, she found new hope. She was inspired by our music and message and this means a lot to me since music saved my life.
Everything that goes around, comes around. The circle will always turn eventually. I say this because when I was 14, I was going through a very rough time and depression had taken over my common sense, and I was lost and in immense emotional pain. I come from a divorced family and my mother often times worked five jobs a week to support me and my sister. I never got to experience my mother because she worked so hard and my father wasn't interested in helping. To help her out, I waitressed at a bar on the weekends and sometimes after school at the age of 14, and for years afterwards. I had no talents, I was bad at school, I was bullied and I had no creative outlet. Depression is not something that you can express, and I started to think of ways to take my own life. I had lost my will to live. I was on the verge and almost did it.
It is very common for teenagers to go through depression and anger, but in my time of need I escaped into music, and it kept me alive when I felt that there was no use in living anymore. I didn't form a band until much later, but even escaping everyday life through a favorite album helps.
All of my hard times have made me who I am today, and I have created my own destiny. Looking back, I realize that suicide is a selfish motive. I would have brought so much pain to my family that it maybe would have even caused them to take their own lives in some way. I was in a terrible place but there is always hope, and there are many ways to channel that depression and make it positive. I'm extremely grateful that I'm alive today and that our music and message of self-empowerment and self-realization has been able to reach others who have felt the way I did before. Our new track, "If I Fall," was written about this important issue, and I hope it can open up rusty portals in someone's mind to look beyond suicide and take the challenge that life gives us — and to create a fulfilling, good life for themselves. If we can inspire anyone to make any sort of positive change, that is our mission.
