Taking Back Sunday “You’re So Last Summer”

Lyric: “The truth is you could slit my throat/And with my one last gasping breath I’d apologize for bleeding on your shirt”
Why it works: You’d literally die for this person! That’s love, man.
How to use it: Ideally, the person you’re using this on is a little morbid and will be into the idea of a cemetery date, or something.

Secondhand Serenade “Fall For You”

Lyric: “Tonight will be the night that I will fall for you over again/Don’t make me change my mind/I won’t live to see another day/I swear it’s true/Because a girl like you is impossible to find”
Why it works: Pretty much all Secondhand Serenade songs fall under the pickup-line umbrella, but this slice of sentimentality takes the cake.
How to use it: When you’re asking someone for a moonlit stroll. Can you feel the romance?

Fall Out Boy “Just One Yesterday”

Lyric: “Anything you say can and will be held against you/So only say my name”
Why it works: You’re asking another person to hold you, more or less — but like, sexily.
How to use it: When you’re looking for a short-term fling.

All Time Low “Your Bed”

Lyric: “So take me to your bed/And we can mess around”
Why it works: There’s no metaphor here. It’s all about getting it on.
How to use it: While listening to this song in your significant other’s bedroom, ideally. Anywhere else is just completely inappropriate, probably?

Panic! At The Disco “Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off”

Lyric: “Let’s get these teen hearts beating faster, faster”
Why it works: This is assuming you’re both teenagers, or are at the very least young at heart. Whatever the case, who could say no?
How to use it: Before asking your crush to Warped Tour.

Twenty One Pilots “Tear In My Heart”

Lyric: “The songs on the radio are okay/But my taste in music is your face!”
Why it works: You’re telling another person that they’re better than even the most popular songs, and that’s sweet as heck.
How to use it: While asking someone out on a record shopping date.

Blink-182 “First Date”

Lyric: “When you smile, I melt inside/I’m not worthy of a minute of your time”
Why it works: Honestly, most of “First Date” works as a pickup line. Other options: “Is it cool if I hold your hand? Is it wrong if I think it’s lame to dance?” and “I dread the thought of our very first kiss/A target that I’m probably gonna miss.” Desperation doesn’t work on everyone, but these are definitely the sweet kind of nervous.
How to use it: When your crush loves nerds and on your way to a science museum.
