On Wednesday, Feb. 14, a man shot and killed 17 people at a Parkland, Florida high school, in what is being called the deadliest school shooting since Sandy Hook.
The Washington Post reports 12 people were killed inside the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Three of the remaining victims died outside, and the other two at local hospitals.
According to Associated Press, the police took the suspect into custody an hour after he left the scene. He was a former student at the school and was expelled for disciplinary reasons. The gunman carried several magazines and at least one rifle.
Many musicians in our scene reacted to the tragic news, see their responses below:
Paramore
and it’s decades past time for gun reform. the student victims alone deserve that much. they are America’s future. ultimately, the message they are getting is that the the deaths of their peers are not noteworthy enough to make change. a cycle of unworth will bring more tragedy.

18 school shootings so far this year. Who can possibly think this is what our forefathers intended when they wrote “a well regulated militia?”

This question may initiate some very heated responses, but as I myself do not know the answer I would like to ask. Could someone who is against gun control please explain to me why? Why are having guns so important?
Genuinely trying to understand, please, keep it calm.

But based on your responses it seems like a lot of it is that we simply can’t trust other people to not hurt us or steal from us. I think that’s really sad that we are a country that can’t trust each other. I certainly wouldn’t dream of leaving my car unlocked.

My point is, while I still think perhaps gun control should be spoken about, the issue runs much deeper into our fundamental principles as a society. We can patch holes all day long, but the foundation is still going to be rotting away under us.

We can all agree no one needs an AR-15 for anything right? Like are we really having this conversation again?

Thoughts are with the students and their family and friends in Florida after ANOTHER school shooting left 17 dead, when are we going to stop killing each other? Cmon America, cmon Earth 🙁

let our spiritual leaders handle the prayers
and ask our politicians to do their jobs, because mass shootings have become the new normal

Dan Campbell (The Wonder Years)
That was the 19th school shooting this year. There have been 31 school days this year, so more days of school with a shooting than without one. That’s fucking shameful.
