Frank Zummo drums up first solo single—listen

Frank Zummo has been the beating heart of Sum 41 and countless live performers, but now he’s setting his sights on solo glory, bringing AP along to share his debut track.

Enlisting the help of EDM DJ Kayzo on the soundboard, Zummo puts his best foot forward with “The Less We Know (feat. Micah Martin).”

The track makes for a perfect first taste of Zummo’s potential as a solo artist, amplified by his booming drums and tied together by Martin’s smooth vocals.

After playing a few Sum 41 songs at one of his shows a few years ago, Kayzo brought the drummer on for a few of his own tracks, and the match seemed to be made in heaven.

“Deryck [Whibley] and I were special guests during Kayzo’s show at The Palladium in 2017,” Zummo says. “We just hit it off really well and had conversations over the next year about building his live show and tour. We all collaborated on the current Unleashed tour and put something together really special combining tons of live drums.”

Kayzo explains his studio time with Zummo as “less like an electronic session and more of a jam session,” forming an electronic-rock pairing that pays homage to the drummer’s roots.

“Working with Frank on ‘The Less We Know’ was one of those really raw sessions,” Kayzo says. “Being able to track drums from Frank and write the record at the same time is what really makes it feel as cohesive as it is.”
