Kingdom Collapse

Kingdom Collapse tell a tale of revenge on “Payback”—watch

Today, AltPress premieres “Payback,” the new video from San Antonio, Texas, metal unit Kingdom Collapse. The band—formed by frontman/guitarist/songwriter Jonathan Norris and rounded out by guitarist Robert Flores, bassist Blake Suarez and drummer David Sanchez—are destined to descend upon radio station playlists with a vibrancy that will drag even the most damaged classic-rock devotees into this calendar year.

For the video, Norris and director Kevin Kreusel (of Kreuked Media) decided to embrace an action movie motif centered around a man who has been pushed to his absolute limit and embarks on a mission to avenge the death of his family. Norris’ unflinching message with the track: “Always stand up for yourself and push back against the forces that stand between you and your determination.”

“‘Payback’ is a true anthem for the underdog,” Norris says. “The person that has always turned the other cheek, the person that has always kept their mouth shut.”

In addition to releasing an EP, War Inside, Kingdom Collapse have been putting in the sweat equity all across the South, sharing stages with such well-known rock lifers as Cold, Powerman 5000, Red and 10 Years. Once the solo vehicle for Norris, he decided to form a band to help see his creative vision come to light.

“Robert and I played in previous bands together, and we always meshed well,” Norris says. “Same thing with Blake. We had gone a while without an official drummer, but David stepped in and has been doing an incredible job. I haven’t had as much fun in a band as I’ve had with this group of guys. They share the same vision as I do, and I couldn’t do this without them.”

When Kingdom Collapse return to the studio, they will be joined by producer Ted Bruner, whose credits include recordings by Three Days Grace, Hinder and Katy Perry. Check them out on Sirius XM’s Octane show tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT to get a glimpse of the men behind the metal.
