10 Machine Gun Kelly collabs we’d love to hear on his pop-punk album

Machine Gun Kelly has always blended rock and rap throughout his career. The rest of the world took note in 2019 when he teamed up with blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and YUNGBLUD for the fiery, top-of-the-charts track “I Think I’m OKAY.” Since then, MGK has announced that he and Barker are diving even further into the genre with his pending pop-punk album, Tickets To My Downfall

Previous collaborators YUNGBLUD, blackbear, Trippie Redd and Young Thug are all slated to appear on the pending LP. MGK also just secured a bucket list collab as the Used frontman Bert McCracken joined him in the studio last month, but who else will he call upon? We have a few ideas in mind, and we more than hope we’re correct about them. Check out our full list below!

Fronz – Attila

In December, MGK revealed McCracken and Attila frontman Fronz were atop his wishlist for collaborations. With the McCracken collab happening, we’re hoping Fronz, who’s collaborated with other artists outside of metalcore, isn’t too far behind.

The rest of blink-182

As a self-professed blink-182 fan who has covered the band countless times in his own sets, this collab would be years in the making. With Barker already producing, we’re hoping the rest of blink-182 join forces with him on a track this go around.

Good Charlotte

The Madden brothers released their mixtape Before — Volume One in 2011, which was packed full of collaboration tracks. One included Machine Gun Kelly on “OHMYGOD (OMGMGK).” The MGK-meets-Good Charlotte blend that Joel and Benji Madden introduced us to is one we’re hoping to see again.

Sum 41

Sum 41 are arguably one of the first mainstream bands to blend hip-hop with the signature pop-punk sound. These scene veterans have had a number of collaborations over the years, including Tenacious D, Iggy Pop and Nelly. Sum 41 have even worked with Tommy Lee who Kelly portrayed in Netflix’s Mötley Crüe biopic The Dirt. A Sum 41 and MGK mashup could easily be a heavy-hitting track that we won’t be able to stop spinning.

We The Kings

We The Kings frontman Travis Clark credits his relationship with MGK to their time spent on Warped Tour together, where their collaborative history began. The rapper would join WTK onstage and vice versa, leading to working on new music with Avril Lavigne. With the in-studio history already there, we’re left needing a track with the vocal assistance of the “Check Yes Juliet” singer now more than ever.

Patrick Stump

Machine Gun Kelly joined pop-punk legends Fall Out Boy on part of their North American tour for MANIA in 2018. Besides their history, Machine Gun Kelly recruiting Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump’s soulful vocals has the potential to be legendary.

Hayley Williams

Paramore’s Hayley Williams has one of the most iconic voices in the scene. Her vocal range and pop-punk history could assist Kelly on a hybrid song, with their styles blending together perfectly. As someone who has an assortment of collaborations on her resume, we doubt Williams would pass up the unique opportunity.

Billie Joe Armstrong – Green Day

With Machine Gun Kelly backing Green Day rising from Dookie to their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2015, this crossover would make total sense as both artists have continued to push genre limits. With Billie Joe Armstrong recently allowing Tyla Yaweh (who performed at MGK’s EST Fest) and Wiz Khalifa (who teamed up with Kells on “Mind Of A Stoner”) to sample “Boulevard Of Broken Dreams,” we’d love for MGK to be next.

The Wonder Years

The Wonder Years have one of the strongest voices in pop punk, and they could easily take MGK under their wing while adding another collaboration to their growing catalog. The South Philly favorites have stepped outside of the genre to pull in the FEVER 333 frontman Jason Aalon Butler on ”Stained Glass Ceilings.” A Dan Campbell and MGK blend could be the right amount of aggression and melody to make a timeless pop-punk hit.

Sleeping With Sirens

Although Sleeping With Sirens aren’t pop punk, they’ve had a couple of collaborations in the past. From the SWS track “Alone” featuring MGK to he and Kellin Quinn working together on the Rise Against-inspired “Swing Life Away” off the rapper’s Black Flag mixtape, the duo prove they make a good team. A Sleeping With Sirens and MGK mashup would give us another heavier pop-punk track we could all get behind.
