12 Marvel moments that were absolutely metal

Avengers: Endgame is finally in theaters. After breaking records in ticket sales, we’re extremely excited to see the film. It’s been a long road since Iron Man was released in 2008, and Phase 3 isn’t even finished yet. In celebration of the release, we’ve compiled a list of special moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe throughout the years.

While the Marvel universe might not literally be headbanging to Slipknot, their actions fall in line with the same badass attitude. Check out 12 times MCU fight sequences and action scenes were metal to the core.

**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD**

1. Iron Man is literally made of metal

If you’re watching the Marvel films by release date, Tony Stark is the “genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist” who started it all. It takes a special type of intelligence to create a device in a cave that will keep you alive and also build not just one, but an army of suits to fight crime. While Iron Man 2 may not have been the best film to come out of the MCU, you’ve got to admit that the featured suit was pretty awesome.

2. When Black Panther fights a band of human traffickers

Black Panther has no fear, especially when it comes to protecting the nation of Wakanda, friends and family. Unafraid to take risks, he’ll jump out of a plane without a parachute if that’s what it takes to save the people he cares about. To make things even easier on T’Challa, he has highly advanced Wakandan technology to help save Nakia from a gang of human traffickers.

3. Valkyrie rides in on a Pegasus

This whole sequence looks like it belongs in a music video from your favorite metal band. Valkyrie valiantly comes to the rescue to defeat Hela before she wreaks havoc on the realms and looks like the most powerful woman alive in the process. Even though the battle doesn’t end the way she would’ve hoped, she fought bravely as any member of the elite army would.

4. That time the Hulk threw Loki around

Before Loki was the beloved character we lost in Avengers: Infinity War, he was an arrogant god determined to take over the world. During the battle in New York, Loki thought he had the upper hand until he went face to face with the Hulk. The God Of Mischief quickly figured out that he was no more than a rag doll to Bruce Banner as he was thrashed around Stark Tower.

5. Okoye and Nakia in the Black Panther casino fight scene

Okoye and Nakia are queens when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. As Nakia is fending off the club’s members on the lower level, Okeye is killing it on the second floor, at one point kicking someone through the balcony. The coolest part? They do it all in dresses, and they look glorious.

6. When Star-Lord went up against his father

What would you do if your dad, who turned out to be a celestial being, was forcing you to stay with him and become his literal life force? For Peter Quill, that decision was difficult to make in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. In the end, Star-Lord managed to take control of his newfound power and completely destroy his father’s hopes and dreams.

7. When Black Widow makes her Avengers debut

The first time we’re introduced to Black Widow, she’s a bit tied up in The Avengers. There’s no need to worry though: The heroine is on an undercover mission, and it’s all part of the plan. After a call from Phil Coulson, she easily defeats three men all while strapped to a chair. If that’s not one of the most amazing things to witness, we don’t know what is.

8. Captain America’s fight in the elevator

Just when it looks like he might be defeated in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers solely manages to knock out nine grown men in an elevator. Captain America can hold his own in almost any fight, but it’s always impressive to see him kick ass by himself.

9. When Scarlet Witch has to sacrifice the love of her life

What’s more metal than having to kill the person you love most for the greater good? Absolutely nothing. Scarlet Witch must destroy the Mind Stone in Infinity War, but in order to do so, she must end Vision’s life. We’re not crying, you are.

10. When Thor accesses his true power

Thor: Ragnarok is most likely one of the best MCU films to exist. With its bright colors, comedic one-liners and epic fight sequences, the film is absolutely iconic. What makes it even more special, though, is the iconic fight scene between Hela and Thor. As any little brother would, the God Of Thunder is tired of being pushed around by his older sister, who just happens to be the Goddess Of Death. Pair that with a little motivational speech from his father, and there’s a formula for vengeance.

11. When Thanos throws Gamora off a cliff

Probably the saddest scene in MCU history, Thanos throws Gamora off a cliff in Infinity War, leaving us (and probably everyone else) in tears. Watching that scene play out is the equivalent to listening to your favorite sad song when you’re feeling down, and it makes you feel worse.

12. Captain Marvel’s standoff against Ronan

There’s no denying that Captain Marvel is an absolute badass, but her best scene has to be where she has a standoff against Ronan The Accuser and his whole crew in her self-titled film debut. She could have ripped the ship to shreds, but instead, she let them go, probably to tell their superiors who they shouldn’t mess with. Plus, Carol Danvers wears a Nine Inch Nails shirt and rocks out to ’90s tracks when she’s not saving the world—what’s more badass than that?
