10 Netflix movies to put at the top of your watch list in 2021

As if we didn’t already have a Netflix problem, the streaming giant announced at the beginning of the year that it would be releasing 70 new films in 2021.

So it’s safe to say we’re going to have a lot of movie nights this year.

And not only are the movies new, but they’re packed with big-name actors and span genres, including action, horror, comedy and more.

Check out the video Netflix released to announce the major news, giving us a sneak peek at some of the films they’ll be dropping.

There are so many movies on the list that we want to watch, so we’re making it easier by narrowing down the top 10 that we’re most excited to see this year. Grab your popcorn and check that out below.

Don’t Look Up

This film is packed with big-name actors, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Timothee Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi and more. It’s likely the most anticipated film on this list. While Netflix hasn’t unveiled a release date, it will probably be near the end of the year. Don’t Look Up tells the story of two astronomers who must go on a media tour to warn everyone on Earth of an incoming comet.

To All The Boys: Always And Forever

This teen romance series will wrap up with the third To All The Boys I Loved Before film, out Feb. 12. Lana Condor and Noah Centineo will be reprising their roles as Lara Jean prepares for the end of high school and goes on a few live-altering trips.

Army Of The Dead

We can’t resist a good zombie movie, so Army Of The Dead is right up our alley. This film centers around a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, which will probably make us feel lucky that the coronavirus doesn’t make people crave flesh. A group of mercenaries ventures into the quarantine zone to attempt a heist that’s full of action and drama.

There’s Someone Inside Your House

This film follows Makani Young, who moves from Hawaii to Nebraska to live with her grandma. As graduation looms, however, her classmates start to be stalked by a killer trying to expose their secrets and terrorize everyone in sight in several ways, including wearing lifelike masks of the victims. This sounds like the kind of skin-crawling film that would give us nightmares, and we can’t wait to see it.

Thunder Force

This superhero film stars Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, who were childhood BFFs. They reunite to use their powers to protect the city, which is overrun with evil villains. All in all, this film looks like it’s going to have us laughing our heads off and seems like the perfect crowd-pleasing movie for a night in.

The Woman In The Window

If you can’t get enough of Amy Adams in Sharp Objects, you’ll have to watch her in The Woman In The Window. Adams portrays an agoraphobic woman who lives alone. When she gets some new neighbors, she accidentally uncovers their dark secrets, and there’s no going back. This looks like the type of film that’s filled with surprises and thrills that are guaranteed to give us goosebumps.

Night Teeth

Speaking of thriller movies, Night Teeth, starring Debby Ryan, Lucy Fry and Jorge Lendeborg Jr., follows a chauffeur who picks up two mysterious women who appear to be going out on the town. However, their sinister intentions are revealed, and it turns into a fight for survival.

Fear Street trilogy

Technically, Fear Street consists of three horror films, which sounds like music to our creepy-loving ears. It’s also based on a horror series by R.L. Stine, so it’s definitely a must-watch. The film starts in the ’90s when a group of teens discover events that have haunted their town for years might be connected. As a result, they fear it’ll put a target on their back.

Afterlife Of The Party

This film stars Victoria Justice, a social butterfly who dies during her birthday week. When she’s given a second chance at life, she must reconnect with her loved ones and work to get into heaven. So if you were obsessed with The Good Place, this sounds like the perfect film just for you.

Moxie

Netflix will release this star-studded comedy film March 3, which is directed by former SNL star Amy Poehler. The film follows a 16-year-old who’s sick of the status quo and makes a zine that sparks a revolution by channeling her mom’s wild past.
