13 new Netflix and Hulu movies to watch while you’re stuck at home

As the world continues to take extra precaution amid the coronavirus outbreak, you might find yourself sitting around with not much to do. Many of us have resorted to hanging out or working at home as tours, festivals and more postpone. In your downtime, and when you’re not singing your favorite scene songs to wash your hands, there’s always the plethora of Netflix and Hulu titles to choose from.

Each month, both Netflix and Hulu add a whole slew of titles. From the brand new originals to the newly added classics, here are 10 films you can stream right now and even more coming soon.

Corpse Bride (2005)

This Academy Award-nominated classic is one of many iconic Tim Burton and Johnny Depp matchups. With Burton in the director’s chair for the animated film, Depp stars as Victor Van Dort, a man being set up in an arranged marriage. Victor runs off to practice his vows as not to mess up, reciting them in the woods and accidentally awakening Emily, a deceased bride. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street and 9 are also available for Burton fans to stream.

Big Time Adolescence (2020)

Machine Gun Kelly and Pete Davidson reunite in the long-awaited coming-of-age story Big Time Adolescence. Filmed in the summer of 2018 (between a surprise music video for “LOCO” and a road trip to MGK’s EST Fest), the musician actually gives Davidson a tattoo, which is just the start of the shenanigans that break out around impressionable teenager Mo (Griffin Gluck). Originally set to drop March 20, the film was released today in theaters and on streaming a week early amid the growing coronavirus outbreak that has affected the music and film industry.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events (2004)

Before Netflix brought in Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf for their A Series of Unfortunate Events series, Jim Carrey fulfilled the role in a 2004 film. Set around the Baudelaire children, the trio of siblings are left orphaned, going to live with their closest remaining relative Olaf where things don’t exactly go as planned.

Into The Dark: Crawlers (2020)

Blumhouse’s horror anthology series Into The Dark kicked off in October 2018. Each month, a new terrifying film is released based upon a holiday or event that takes place at that time. Currently in its second season, March’s installment uses St. Patrick’s Day as inspiration by capturing an alien-infested bar crawl gone wrong.

Space Jam (1996)

With the hype around Lebron James’ upcoming Space Jam sequel buzzing daily, it’s only right to watch (or rewatch) the original. Starring Michael Jordan, the ’90s classic imagines Jordan using his retirement to help free all of your favorite Looney Tunes characters with a good ol’ game of basketball.

Sleepover (2004)

Featuring a young Evan Peters pre-American Horror Story, Sleepover follows a group of friends celebrating the last day of middle school with an epic scavenger hunt. Alexa Vega of Spy Kids fame stars as the quirky Julie who, along with her friends including Scout Taylor-Compton (Rob Zombie’s Halloween), face off with the popular girls fronted by Sara Paxton (Aquamarine).

Lil Peep: Everybody’s Everything (2019)

Following an extended theatrical release in November due to overwhelming success, Lil Peep documentary Everybody’s Everything finally hit streaming this month. Featuring music from Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, the documentary takes a look at the late rapper’s rise before he passed away in November 2017.

Wayne’s World (1992)

Who wouldn’t want to air jam to Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” with Wayne and Garth from the comfort of their own couch? Wayne’s World follows the duo as they host and promote their public-access cable show filmed in Wayne’s basement.

Spenser Confidential (2020)

Post Malone’s acting debut is definitely worth a watch as he appears alongside Mark Wahlberg and Winston Duke (Black Panther, Us). Directed by Peter Berg and based on Robert B. Parker’s novel Wonderland, the action-filled comedy follows an ex-cop (Wahlberg) who is determined to get justice for his friends.

Hook (1991)

You can’t go wrong with a Robin Williams movie as the actor entertained generations of fans in Aladdin, Mrs. Doubtfire and more. One of his most iconic roles is as Peter Banning in the 1991 classic Hook, which finds Peter returning to Neverland to save his children from the infamous Captain James Hook.

As her first of several films with David O. Russell, Jennifer Lawrence nailed the starring role in this just months after becoming a household name with the first installment of The Hunger Games series. Lawrence appears opposite Bradley Cooper, setting his life on a tumultuous path after a stint at a mental institution.

Signs (2002)

For those who like a little sci-fi with their horror, M. Night Shyamalan delivered Signs shortly after achieving major success with The Sixth Sense. Starring Mel Gibson, the flick follows the Hess family and the aftermath of finding mysterious crop circles at their farm.

Pet Sematary (2019)

You can’t go wrong with an adaptation of the master of horror’s work, Stephen King. As the second go at Pet Sematary following the 1989 film, the modern rework has a controversial plot change that divided fans. But regardless, this is a must-watch for King and horror fans alike.
