Detroit alt-pop artist Flint Eastwood gets in touch with her sexuality on her newest track “Real Love.” This is the first time she has addressed the LGBTQ community. “I want people to know that there is hope and that there is a happy life out there for them,” she says of the song’s message. “You are worthy of the most spectacular love, and you will find it being exactly who you are.”

Indie rockers Ottawa seem to have gotten it right on the first try with their new single “Strangers.” “Writing ‘Strangers’ was a very memorable experience for us because the whole song came together in about an hour,” bassist Jeremy Barnes says. “Outside of one tweak to the chorus during our recording session, the song remained exactly as it was from the day we wrote it.” “Strangers” is one of six songs to be released throughout the rest of summer. Stay tuned!

  1. Like A Storm — “The Devil Inside”

“The Devil Inside” serves as Like A Storm’s fiery opening track on their new album Catacombs. After a trip to the actual catacombs in Paris, the band sat down to write their latest LP. Filled with interesting instrumentation, including a didgeridoo, “The Devil Inside” is a melodic metal masterpiece. “It sets the tone of the whole record,” frontman Chris Brooks says. “This dark journey within yourself, which brings you face to face with your demons.”

  1. Bad Bad Hats — “Talk With Your Hands”

From Bad Bad Hats’ forthcoming LP Lightning Round comes the single “Talk With Your Hands.” This electric bedroom pop ode is sure to pique the interests of fans of Frankie Cosmos and Diet Cig. Lightning Round will be out on Afternoon Records Aug. 3.

  1. Dolores Haze — “Banana”

Fuzz-rock three-piece Dolores Haze just dropped this firecracker of a track about consent. Inspired by the #MeToo movement, Dolores Haze wrote this powerful tune with a touch of alt-pop flair. Irresistible to the ears, “Banana” is a fun, upbeat powerhouse.

  1. Never Home — “State Line”

Pop-punk band Never Home released this classic anthem. Serving as the focus track on their self-titled EP, “State Line” carries a sound reminiscent of the Wonder Years. Never Home’s EP is available here.

  1. Abandoned By Bears — “Headstorm”

“Headstorm” is the first single from Abandoned By Bear’s upcoming album of the same name. With a creative video to match, “Headstorm” is leading Abandoned By Bears in a new pop-punk direction. You can preorder Headstorm here.

With their recent signing to Victory Records, Like Torches just dropped this slick alternative rock banger, “Silver Lines.” The song is from their upcoming album, coming this fall. You can buy the song here.

  1. The Worst Humans — “What I’m All About”

Filled to the brim with slow, grungy riffs, the Worst Humans released “What I’m All About.” The fuzzy Brooklyn four-piece drips with ’90s influence on their latest track. “If you’ve ever felt so bored that it infuriates you, or makes you want to die, then the thesis of this tune will resonate with you,” frontman Ian Holubiak says.
