Not Ur Girlfrenz question love in new music video—watch

Not Ur Girlfrenz have taken the scene by storm and are joining forces with AP to bring you a new music video for “Somehow,” taken from the group’s debut EP, New Kids In America.

Even though they range from age 12 (Gigi Haynes) to 14 (Liv Haynes, Maren Alford), the trio have already hit the ground running. From touring with Bowling For Soup to garnering a slot on the final cross-country Vans Warped Tour, the band made it clear that they’re a force to be reckoned with.

Mostly known for their pop-punk vibes, taking influences from artists such as Joan Jett and Paramore, Not Ur Girlfrenz are excited to be sharing something a little different.

“At first, I was a little hesitant to write a love song, but when I sat down to write, I felt like the song wrote itself in 15 minutes,” lead vocalist Liv says. “I wanted to be really honest about how I was feeling at the time, and it’s something that everyone can relate to because we’ve all been there.”

This may not be the first music video for the group, but bassist Gigi says with every shoot there’s improvement.

“This was our second time getting to work with director Matt Cooper and his crew,” she says. “Last time we shot ‘No One Asked You Anyway,’ and the videos seem to be getting better and better each time.”

As far as aesthetic goes, drummer Alford says she’s looking forward to being able to show their fans something new.

“We’re really excited for people to see a different side of the band because the video is really different than our earlier releases,” she explains. “Seeing everything come together with the lighting, the fog, the sets and the camera work was such a cool experience, and it was amazing to see the vision for the video become a reality.”
