It’s Friday, the 13th, so we are keeping things scary around here.

Horror-punk outfit One Last Shot are exclusively releasing a video for their new single “Slitting My Throat On My Own”, which follows the band members—vocalist Jeremy Romance, Zak Phillips and Angelo Zinkovitch on guitars, Adam Vlassis on bass and Ryan Sheldon on drums—around a haunted house. Everyone is having fun in the beginning, but things start to get weird quickly.

The track comes off their sophomore record The Death Of A Poet & All Of His Friends, a concept album that tell the story of five people who know they are about to die. Vocalist Jeremy Romance told AP he wrote the lyrics to “Slitting My Throat On My Own” on a bathroom floor during an anxiety attack.

Watch the video below:

The band from Syracuse, NY, has been around since 2008 and gets inspiration from horror movies and comic books—hence, the creepy video. Over the years, they received nods from the Used's Bert McCracken, as well as William Control and From First To Last's Matt Good, who have appeared on One Last Shot tracks.

Romance says music was really important to him growing up, and he wants One Last Shot to help his fans as much as his favorite bands helped him: “I started this band in hopes we can be that escape for a new generation of outcast kids.”

You can purchase The Death Of A Poet & All Of His Friends on iTunes and stream it on Spotify.

Read our Q&A with vocalist Jeremy Romance below:

How did the band get started?
When growing up, I always felt like the outsider and music was one of the only things making me feel less alone. My favorite bands showed me it's okay to not be okay. I started this band in hopes we can be that escape for a new generation of outcast kids.

What are some of your biggest influences, both musically and aesthetically?
We all have different influences musically, but we all seem to like music from the early 2000s. The Death Of A Poet & All Of His Friends is also heavily influenced by movie scores. Early Tim Burton films especially played a role not only for the Danny Elfman music, but also for the aesthetic. Personally for me, influences are The Misfits, AFI, The Used, My Chem, Aiden, FFTL… it's pretty obvious, just look at me. [Laughs.]

Who would you love to collaborate with?
Bert McCracken and also working with John Feldmann on an album. In the near future, I want to figure something out with my friend Will from Creeper. Just get real spooky on people's asses.

“Slitting My Throat On My Own” was chosen as single by your fans. How important is it to listen to their opinions?
I've gotten to know a lot of our fans through social media and shows and they are really awesome! We asked them what song they wanted for the next video, and they all wanted, “Slitting My Throat on My Own”. We try to involve the fans and keep them a part of everything, if possible. The therapy and escape music brings is as much for us as it is for them.

What’s the story behind the song?
I couldn't sleep one night due to an anxiety attack and wrote the lyrics on a bathroom floor to get out my emotions a healthy way.

How did the idea for the video for “Slitting My Throat On My Own” come about? What was recording in a haunted house like?
We wanted to just have fun. Halloween is one of our favorite seasons and shooting it at The Last Ride was awesome. That place is killer haunt during the Halloween season.

The music video for is pretty different from your previous work, a little more lighthearted. You had us laughing up until the last scene… What made you go that route for the ending?
Everyone was having fun and we couldn't come up with an ending… so I threw out the idea, “How about we make this title literal? Fuck it.” [Laughs.]

The Death of a Poet & All of His Friends is a concept album. Can you guide us through the inspiration behind the album?
The idea is five people knowing they are about to die. The album is the night leading up to their inevitable demise. They discuss if they lived their life the way they wanted and to the fullest. I believe a lot of people take life for granted and don't try to make a positive impact or change to this world.

Halloween is almost here. What are your plans?
I'm most likely going to Philly to see the homies in William Control and Motionless In White. If you're able to go to this show, I suggest you do!

Does the band have any Halloween traditions you can share with us?
We go to a lot of haunted houses like The Last Ride, where we shot the video. But mostly we get together at my place and watch crazy horror movies. It's a constant horror movie marathon in my home 24/7 and people always stop over to see what crazy shit I'm watching.

What are some of your favorite horror movies to watch on Halloween?
This is a loaded question. Obviously you can do the classics like A Nightmare On Elm Street, HalloweenFriday the 13th, and the Universal Monsters… But my top 10, in no specific order, are:

1. Return of The Living Dead
2. Night Of The Demons
3. Fright Night
4. Lucio Folci's Zombi
5. Linnea Quigley's Horror Workout
6. Terror On Tape
7. Evil Ed
8. Scream Queen Hot Tub Party
9. House of 1000 Corpses
10. The Wizard of Gore

You were on a few Warped Tour dates this summer. What was that like?
For only a few dates, we have more memories and stories than I can even express.

Warped Tour is the best tour. Period. Props to Kevin Lyman, Julie, Lisa and everyone on the Warped Fam. We got zero sleep, crammed in a hot van, ate better than ever… I wouldn't change a damn thing. We got to see Anti Flag and GWAR every day. We got to hang with our friends in William Control and have breakfast with our friends in Creeper each morning. We made new friends in New Years Day and CKY. It was great meeting a bunch of fans and playing new states for the first time. Also props to catering. If you're in a band and have a chance to do it, it's something you don't want to miss out on. I hope to do it again in the near future.

What’s next for One Last Shot?
We have shows in the winter planned that we will be announcing soon! Also we are already working on new music. We may not release it anytime soon, but we are always active and can't stop being creative.
