Picturesque (Equal Vision Records) elevate '00s post-hardcore on "Unannounced" (exclusive)

Lexington, Kentucky's Picturesque are teaming up with AltPress for the premiere of their latest single, “Unannounced.” The track takes the beloved post-hardcore mold and elevates it higher than ever before. Listen below and be sure to leave us a comment with your thoughts.

Monstrous Things is a continuation of the debut self titled EP we put out independently last December,” says vocalist Kyle Hollis. “With the new songs on the EP, I focused the majority of the writing about the end of a six year relationship that left me in a dark place. I just wanted to sleep until I felt better, as if I were physically sick, but I wasn't even safe when I was asleep. Every dream I had ended the same dismal way. I ended up shutting myself off from the world for about a year-and-a-half. Towards the end of the relationship, I started writing letters to Emily (my ex) because it was the only way I could get her to respond to any form of communication. 'Unannounced' might be my favorite song on the EP because this is the last letter I'll ever write to her. It couldn’t be more fitting that it's the first new song we release.”

“Unannounced” is taken from the band’s Monstrous Things EP, which boasts six tracks and is due out November 20 via Equal Vision Records. (Pre-orders are on sale now.) Earlier this year, we featured Picturesque as one of our four new unsigned bands you should check out—we weren’t joking!
