Recreate these five makeup looks from your favorite music videos

You could totally rep your favorite band with some merch, but another cool way to pay tribute to the artists you love is through makeup. From AFI to Melanie Martinez, these looks range from wearable to daring. Feel free to use them as inspiration and tweak the colors to make them your own.

“Dollhouse” – Melanie Martinez

Throw on your dress and put on your doll face.

  1. Melanie’s gorgeous eye shadow is in the form of a cut crease. Here’s a super helpful video on how to perfect the technique. Once you’ve got that down, take a hot pink shadow and blend it into the crease of your eye.

  2. Place dark purple shadow just underneath the hot pink and blend to create an ombré between the two.

  3. Your eyelid should be color free up until this step. Take a pigmented white eyeshadow all over it, making sure to keep the purple-y pink line sharp.

  4. Place glitter glue, like this one from NYX, on top of the white shadow and then apply an iridescent white glitter.

  5. Draw a thin line of black eyeliner on your upper lid and put on the longest fake lashes you can find.

  6. For your bottom lid, line your waterline with white eyeliner and glue on fake lashes below where your real lid is to create a baby doll effect.

  7. Put on a hot pink blush and dot some freckles on your cheeks.

  8. Apply liquid lipstick (the video features shots of what looks like a Lime Crime Velvetine in this shade) solely in the center of your lip.

Optional: In one part of the video, Melanie dons sprinkles on the side of her face. If you want to rock a totally accurate costume—or if you really just want to wear sprinkles—put a little bit of eyelash glue on each sprinkle and glue ’em on.

“Technicolor” – SAINTE

Tay’s makeup is simple but Technicolor bright.

  1. It doesn’t appear that Tay has on any eyeshadow other than a bright neon yellow, so go ahead and swipe that all over your lid and blend it into the crease of your eye.

  2. Create bold winged eyeliner.

  3. Throw on some thick fake lashes, something along the lines of these

  4. Last but not least, use a sky blue lipstick to complete the look.

“Miss Murder” – AFI

Davey Havok used to rock this look all the time and now you can, too.

  1. The lighting throughout the video is dim, so it’s tough to tell what Davey has on. It looks like he’s wearing this, but without the rhinestones on the lower lash line (which you could totally add). Start off with a light blue shadow on the lid.

  2. Use a navy shadow in the outermost part of your eye to give it some dimension.

  3. Take a white shadow on your brow bone to highlight.

  4. This is what makes the look: Put on eyelashes with rhinestones on the band. These look a lot like the ones that Davey is wearing.

  5. Heavily line your lower water and lash lines with blackest black liner.

“Guys My Age” – Hey Violet

A great look if you’re into neon lights, spandex  or glittery lipstick.

  1. Use an iridescent light pink shadow all over your lid.

  2. Pop a white or champagne-colored highlighter on your brow and cheekbones to get glow-y skin.

  3. Rena has on winged liner, but it’s very thin. Be sure to not get too heavy-handed.

  4. There are two ways to achieve the stunning glittery lipstick she has on. The easiest is to buy this kit from Tattoo Junkee. The glitter will stay on all day. The second is to apply a hot pink lipstick and then press hot pink glitter into it. This won’t last as long, but the effect is the same.

“Still Into You” – Paramore

Classic Hayley Williams makeup is bright and unique, just like her; this look is no exception.

  1. Start off with a light blue shadow on the inner part of your lid.

  2. Blend the blue into a light pink placed on the other half of your eye.

  3. Use a glittery white shadow along your brow bone and inner corner of your eye.

  4. Take a hot pink shadow on the outermost part of your eye and blend it into the light pink.

  5. On a pencil brush, use the same hot pink and drag it out past your eye.

  6. Use black liquid liner to draw a thin line across your eye and about midway through the hot pink line you just created.

  7. Use a peachy blush on your cheeks.

  8. Place a metallic highlighter lightly on your cheekbones and the tip of your nose.

  9. Very light pink lipstick will complete the look.
