In December 2019, pop-punk five-piece Rematch announced they signed to Lost Music Collective, the label owned by Vinnie Fiorello of Less Than Jake. Hot on the heels of their latest EP Do It All Again, the group are ready to turn 2020 into their year. After the group’s 2018 release, Broken Steps, they traveled to the U.K. to write and record their sophomore effort, set for release Feb. 28.
Rematch have teamed up with AltPress to exclusively premiere their new video, “Live A Little.”
“Live A Little” documents the minute setbacks of everyday life such as overzealous neighbors, a minor fender-bender or working a mundane 9 to 5 job. Eventually, the narrator of the video— portrayed by vocalist Alex Vito—fights back against these inconveniences.
“This song’s lyrics were absolutely a collaborative effort,” guitarist Mike Stranczek says. “We found ourselves halfway around the world, working with two exceptional producers on songs that we really put our hearts into, so it was really fitting that we would write this song about getting out of your daily routine and avoiding complacency. Life can be so much more rewarding when you step outside of your comfort zone. ‘Live A Little’ is for anyone who wants to make a positive change in their life. We’re right there with you!”
Despite traveling across the world to record their EP together, the group had a set goal in mind when it came to writing and recording “Live A Little.”
“The goal we had while writing ‘Live A Little’ was to come up with something that was fun to listen to,” Stranczek says. “We started with an electronic loop, and the instrumentals sort of just wrote themselves. The next step was the vocals, which we took to Seb Barlow and Sammy Clifford to completely overhaul. We created something really special with this one!”
