Sainthood Reps and AP are coming together to bring you an exclusive first listen of their newest single, “Wreck.”

Vocalist Francesco Montesanto and lead guitarist Derrick Sherman formed the band in 2009. Their goal was to create something that blended the dynamics of post-rock with elements of the punk and hardcore bands they listened to and watched while growing up. After recruiting drummer Bradley Cordaro and bassist Jani Zubkovs, they began performing immediately.

The band went on to release two albums and toured with groups such as Mewithoutyou, Citizen, Tigers Jaw and more. After the release of their second LP, Headswell, the band went silent.

Last week, Sainthood Reps began teasing fans with another new release, posting a photo on Twitter of an upside-down chair with the band’s name above it and “Wreck” below.

They also released their first track in six years last month with “Burning Sheep,” officially breaking out of their five-year hiatus.

Montesanto previously stated the track was their “heaviest song ever” despite the band agreeing to “go in a more overall mellow direction.” That trend continues with their next single.

The new song starts strong with intense drumming  before exploding into euphonious verses littered with dark guitar riffs. It was originally inspired by Pixies but turned into something different.

“[It’s] a song that started out as a Pixies rip-off that sounds nothing like Pixies,” Montesanto says.
