San Holo bridges acoustic guitar and EDM with new single—watch

EDM-guitarist San Holo is teaming up with AP to premiere his latest single, “Lead Me Back.”

Holo’s label bitbird is prepping to release Gouldian Finch 3, and this marks the first track from the compilation.

Holo says the song hits close to home for him, so much so that it almost didn’t see the light of day.

“‘Lead Me Back’ is a very simple song about growing apart and longing to go back to the days when that wasn’t the case yet, and the internal struggle of why that keeps happening to everyone I’ve been with,” Holo says. “I thought about not releasing the song at all because it’s a very personal song, with me singing and playing the guitar, so I literally feel like I’m naked.”

Further expanding on how open and honest the track is, Solo explains how the track came to be.

The entire song is built around an acoustic guitar demo that I recorded a while back but never released due to lack of confidence,” he elaborates. “However, over time I got more comfortable using my own vocals on songs. I’m a fan of combining different styles of music to make something new, [and] this song is a good example of that. I threw all sorts of acoustic and electronic elements together to create something that sounds like a little bridge between EDM and folk music to me.”
